Room for Optimism?

Information security mainly focuses on managing the risk of possible failure for businesses, mainly on the technology end of things.

With all of this talk of failure — vulnerabilities, exploits, hacking, physical disasters (business continunity planning), spyware, adware, etc. — one wonders if most InfoSec professionals’ perspectives are negative in nature.

And if so, is there room for optimism amongst all this pessimism?
